Developing Human Performance Capability

Human Performance as a discipline covers a broad range of topics (e.g. leadership, engineering, investigations etc.) which may be owned by different business functions, e.g. HR, engineering, HSE etc).  Human Performance/Human Factors is a technical discipline that can be studied at the graduate degree level, including Ph.D. and there are research centres dedicated to advancing the discipline. As such, skilful application requires appropriate level of education and experience.

Organizations may need different people and tools at different level of proficiency.  Successful application of HP is not limited to front line/shop floor operators, but rather requires a holistic approach and therefore aligned contributions from many different roles and levels in an organization.
